Franschhoek, a village renowned for its French Huguenot heritage is nestled between towering mountains in the beautiful Cape winelands. Franschhoek Cellar combines the charms of leisurely country life with the elegance of a world class venue. The wine estate was built in 1920 and by 1947 the wine cellar was completed and a group of local farmers starting making wines under the Franschhoek Cellar name. In 2008, a return to private ownership saw Franschhoek Cellar move back to its roots in celebrating its heritage and focusing on creating varietal wines that reflect our unique South African terroir. Franschhoek Cellar offers a distinctive range of single varietal wines under the called the Village Walk, capturing the vibrant character and charm range whilst paying homage to the historical landmarks of the village that help tell the story of this incredible place. Our Town Hall was built in 1935 in the popular gabled Cape Dutch Revival style. Much like the character of our Chardonnay, this historical building follows seamless lines and gentle curves to preserve the natural heritage and architecture of the village, yet still expresses itself boldly. Our wine philosophy is centred around elegance and refinement. |
