The vineyard of Chateau de Pena lies over a terroir of clay and limestone, consisting of soils of marl and black shale, locally known as "black stone"spread over the foothills of the Corbieres. This exceptional terroir, facing due South and South-East in a seaward direction, produces a quite extraordinary red wine, Chateau de Pena gives a wine that is deeply dark, with a heavenly bouquet of warm stone and dark fruit: blackberry, blackcurrant liqueur, cooked burlat cherry, light and Havana tobacco. On the palate, it gives amazing freshness and length, is potent and marked by ripe tannins. Chateau de Pena should be enjoyed at 18°C and goes wonderfully with dishes cooked in sauce and grilled meat.

Harvesting and stemming, pre-fermentation maceration, extraction through remontage and stomping, blending of grapes according to maturity. Vinification ofblended grape varieties, grenache/syrah, grenache/syrah/carignan. Matured on lees in casks.
