Chateau Beau-Sejour Becot 2015 St-Emilion Grand Cru

Since the accession of the Becot family to the head of Chateau Beau-Sejour Becot, father and son have been keen to manage the estate with respect for the exceptional terroir it has to offer, while bringing technicality and modernity. Indeed, this family of winegrowers since the 18th century has contributed to the modernization of the cellar and the vineyard by bringing many technical innovations. At the same time, cultivation is always carried out with pure respect for traditions, the harvest for example being carried out entirely by hand. Better yet, each grape is picked one by one so that only the best are selected. This alliance between modernity and tradition allows the production of distinctive wines, both fruity and tasty, which are undoubtedly part of the elite wines of the Saint-Emilion appellation.

In the land where wine has been produced since Gallo-Roman times, Chateau Beau-Sejour Becot has a history that is itself several hundred years old. Property of the Geres family, who received it from the Franciscan friars from the 17th century, the estate was passed on by marriage to the de Carles family from the beginning of the following century. Saint-emilionnais by birth and a career soldier, Jacques de Carles, who was very fond of the property acquired by his father, renamed the cru Beausejour in 1787. At the end of the 1860s, the estate was shared between the heirs of the Ducarpe family, then at the head of the cru: the greater part (10 ha) constitutes the future Chateau Beau-Sejour Becot, while the remaining four hectares give birth to the Chateau Beau-Sejour Heritiers Duffau-Lagarrosse. The wine from the two properties is however identically marketed under the name "Beausejour" until 1920. In 1969, Michel Becot, from a family of winegrowers established for a long time in Saint-emilion, acquired the estate. and appends his surname to it. A decade later, the vines of neighboring Chateau La Carte, also in the hands of the Becot family, enter into the composition of the wine of Chateau Beau-Sejour Becot.
