Black Cow is the world's first Pure Milk Vodka. Made in West Dorset from the milk of grass grazed cows, it has an exceptionally smooth and creamy character. Sip neat, or mix in a long drink or cocktail. See recipes in the Usage section below.
Black Cow is the invention of dairy farmer Jason Barber. Inspired by his love of vodka and a desire to do something different with the milk of his dairy cows, in 2012 Jason set about exploring the potential the whey, typically a disregarded product of the cheesemaking process.
By combining the ancient Mongolian tradition of making alcohol from milk with the Northern European tradition of making high proof, clear, clean vodka, Jason and his fellow co-founder Paul Archard were together able to develop an innovative, unique and superior tasting vodka, made entirely from the milk of cows.
Black Cow vodka won Gold at IWSC (International Wine and Spirit Competition) 2020.
Black Cow is suitable for people with lactose Intolerance and is also gluten free.
BLACK COW, SODA AND LIME
Fill a long glass with ice and then add 50ml Black Cow vodka, the juice of half a lime and a few pinches of lime zest. Stir until chilled and then top with soda water.
THREE INGREDIENT ESPRESSO MARTINI
Add 50ml Black Cow vodka, 40ml freshly cooled coffee and 15ml Maple syrup to a cocktail shaker. Shake hard with ice. Pour into a martini glass. Leave for several minutes to settle. Sip!
THE WHOLE MILK
The process of making Black Cow starts with separating the milk into curds and whey. The curds make Black Cow Deluxe Cheddar, and the whey makes its exceptionally smooth Black Cow vodka. To experience The Whole Milk, pair a slab of Black Cow Deluxe Cheddar with a measure of Pure Milk Vodka.
