The three champagne grape varieties are used to make this wine: the predominant one is Pinot Noir, for body and power; over one third is Chardonnay, which adds finesse and delicate aromas; lastly, Pinot Meunier completes the blend with its tender, fruity notes. In all, this champagne is a blend of some 50 to 60 crus, each vinified separately until the time comes when it is used in the blend. To achieve a perfect harmony in the blend and ensure consistency in taste and style, Lanson use between 15-30% of reserve wines. One important point: Lanson does not do the malo-lactic fermentation.
