The Drouhin family in the Dundee Hills create elegant, fine Pinot Noir wines forged from the family's traditional approach to winemaking in France. Grapes are handpicked and sorted and then de-stemmed at the four level gravity flow winery. Fermentation is long and careful, and barrels are custom made in Burgundy, allowing the character of the soil and vintage to shine through. Complex and expressive on the nose, there are aromas of flower petals, candied dark cherry and plum interwoven with savoury notes of sandalwood and oak. The first taste presents dark fruit flavours and cherry with pink peppercorn, rhubarb and five-spice. There are ripe, well-integrated tannins which are balanced by the grateful structure
