Its name deriving from the Latin ‘lavare’, meaning to wash, the fresh, floral aroma of lavender has long been associated with cleanliness and purity.

Thanks to the linalool and camphor compounds in lavender, a little diluted oil mixed into your moisturiser and applied to skin may help to keep bugs at bay.

Like citronella, lavender is believed to deter those pesky mosquitoes and may also repel wasps, ants, moths and flies.
